Mansfield Town have confirmed the signing of former Swindon Town defender Frazer Blake-Tracy following their promotion to League One.

The 28-year-old has signed a two-year contract at the One Call Stadium to become the Nottinghamshire club’s third signing of the summer as Nigel Clough prepares for life in the third tier.

The move comes after Stags midfielder Ollie Clarke went the other way to join Swindon from Mansfield last week.

Blake-Tracy joins fellow former Swindon players Louis Reed and Aden Flint at Mansfield following his exit from the County Ground at the end of last season.

The defender spent two seasons at Town, initially arriving on loan in the summer of 2022 before making it a permanent deal in January 2023. He won the Swindon Advertiser Player of the Season award in his first season at the club.

In a statement upon signing, Blake-Tracy said: “I’m delighted to be here.

“I’ve been in dialogue with the manager for a few weeks now and it’s clear that this is a club that is moving in a very good direction.

“I played against Mansfield a couple of times last season and they were probably the best side we faced.

“I’ve heard rave reviews from everyone I’ve spoken to about the club. It’s definitely on the up.”

The defender spoke to BBC Radio Wiltshire about his time at Swindon after his departure last month and said that he greatly enjoyed his time at the club but that change would be needed for them to compete in the way that he wanted to.

He said: “I have been thinking about the decision for the last few months and I am now at 28, I want to be at a club that is stable, in terms of everyone is doing their job properly, and I want to be successful.

“I ended up signing permanently that January because I felt loved by the fans and I will probably never get that love from a fan base again.

“The reason why I felt like I had to leave was I would rather sacrifice myself than have another year of unenjoyment.

“I didn’t really enjoy my time in the last few months at Swindon, there was stuff behind the scenes that made me think I just want better from the club.

“I really wish the club the best in the future and I do think that good times are ahead.”
