BRADFORD-ON-AVON’S Joe Andrews will join up with the Wales Under-17 squad this week to play in the UEFA U17 EURO Elite round.

Andrews and his Welsh teammates will take on Scotland, Iceland and Montenegro in the next seven days, with all games streamed live on S4C.

The 17-year-old has been involved with the Wales youth set up for the past three years, and made his debut against England U16s back in June 2021.

Andrews began his football journey with Bradford Town Youth before Bath and Wiltshire Boys.

Having left St Augustine’s Catholic College last year, where his father is head of the PE department, the former student has spent the last six months as an U18 scholar with Southampton.

His training week combines football and match-day preparations while undertaking a BTEC Level Three sport diploma.

The Wiltshire talent has had a successful start to life at the Saints, with his U18 squad recently qualifying for the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.

Andrews has also earned four recent call ups to the Southampton U23 team who are currently flying high in the Premier League Two, sat third.

He will be looking to impress as he looks to secure a professional contract with the Premier League side and help Wales to victory next week.
