MELKSHAM Town moved up to third in Southern League Division One South following a 3-1 success at home to Wimborne Town on Saturday.

Although the game remained goalless at the break, Wimborne generated the better chances without scoring. And the visitors were punished 10 minutes after the break when Jack Camm nudged Melksham in front.

Ralph Graham struck a second shortly after, and substitute Luke Ballinger completed the strong second-half display by netting in the 80th minute.

What would have been a perfect afternoon was slightly tarnished by a 94th-minute goal for Wimborne, but it was too late to affect the end result.

Elsewhere, Westbury United lost 3-2 away at Cinderford Town. Joe Stradling put the Wiltshire side in front before three unanswered goals turned the game around. Ryan Bole netted a late reply for Westbury, but the recently-promoted club were left with no points for their efforts.

In the Hellenic League Premier Division, Royal Wootton Bassett Town took four points from two games on their way up to third.

A late Alan Griffin goal rescued a point against Cribbs on Saturday before Jack Hobson-McVeigh was sent off late on in the 1-1 draw.

On Tuesday, a thrilling end ultimately saw Bassett best Roman Glass St George 2-1 at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground.

Shaquille Smith put Roman Glass in front after Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist had seen a poor penalty saved by Bassett's Matt Crowther moments earlier.

But Louis Spalding equalised for the hosts before Alfie Presley won the game late on.

At the weekend, Bradford Town drew 1-1 at home to Roman Glass. Tyson Pollard put the Bobcats in front, only for Smith to level inside the final 20 minutes.

Corsham Town beat Mangotsfield United 2-0 on Saturday thanks to goals from Dan and Callum Demkiv.
