WILTSHIRE golfers Laurie Canter and Jordan Smith have both now qualified for the 150th Open Championship at St Andrews next month.

Cumberwell Park member Canter was already preparing to play the Old Course in mid-July after securing a spot in the first 30 of the DP World Tour rankings for 2021.

The 32-year-old returned from a month-long break to finish in a tie for 32nd at the BMW International Open last weekend, securing himself almost 16,000 euros and 22.3 DP World Tour ranking points prior to golf's most prestigious major.

Chippenham's Smith - who is a member at Bowood Golf Club - will join Canter at St Andrews following another top-10 finish at the BMW International Open last week.

Smith's eighth-place finish in Germany bagged him a place as part of the first five DP World Tour members, not otherwise exempt, in the top 20 of the DP World Tour rankings on completion of the 2022 BMW International Open.

While Canter's schedule prior to The Open consists of playing in the second LIV Golf event in Portland, Oregon, Smith is set to play both the upcoming Irish Open at Mount Juliet Estate in County Kilkenny as well as the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club, North Berwick on the DP World Tour.
