SWINDON Town have announced the signing of winger Tyrese Shade on a two-year contract following his release from Leicester City’s academy.

Shade becomes Swindon's second new arrival following the arrival of young winger Oscar Massey on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Walsall and scored just two goals in 46 appearances – however, he was rarely deployed in his favoured position and often filled in at full-back or as a wide midfielder.

Shade played 90 minutes as a left midfielder in both of the Saddlers’ League Two defeats against Swindon last season, also coming on as a late substitute in the 2-1 FA Cup reverse at the Bescot Stadium in December.

During his time in Leicester’s Under-18s and U23s set-up, Shade scored 14 goals and created six others in 64 appearances.

A St Kitts & Nevis international at U20 level, the forward has scored three in just five outings.

Following the signing of his contract at SN1, Shade said: “It’s a great feeling to sign for Swindon Town. There’s a really good feel around this club and I can’t wait to get started.

“Having played against the club last season, I was really impressed by their fast attacking football and I really want to be a part of that.

“The fanbase is incredible and I remember the noise being immense when I played here, so I can’t wait to experience that as a Town player moving forward.”

Meanwhile, head coach, Scott Lindsey said: “Tyrese is a really good footballer and can play in a number of positions, and it’s that versatility that makes him a really important signing for us.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing him in a Swindon Town shirt and believe he’ll have an instant impact at the football club.”

Town technical director, Sandro Di Michele, said: “This is a fantastic addition to our squad and we’ve been looking at Tyrese for some time, so we’re really pleased to get this deal over the line.”
