SWINDON Town CEO Rob Angus says the club is ‘hopeful’ of a sell-out crowd for Sunday’s League Two play-off semi-final first leg against Port Vale.

Available to season-ticket holders and six-game-bundle members only so far, supporters have purchased more than 4000 seats less than 24 hours after they went on sale.

The two-legged clash with Port Vale will mark the first time since 2015 that Swindon have made the play-offs – an unbelievable 5-5 draw with Sheffield United sending Town to Wembley following a 2-1 success at Bramall Lane days earlier.

With fans desperate to witness another piece of history on Sunday, Town’s CEO has called for patience from those trying to secure their spot.

Angus said: “We’re hopeful of a sell-out. We’re got all three sides completely open to home fans only, so hopefully all Swindon fans who have supported us this season will be able to get a ticket.

“I’d ask that fans be patient with staff because things are very, very busy. But hopefully everyone can get into support the team.”

While the majority of Town fans have sorted their tickets without an issue, some season-ticket holders have complained of seats not being available to them.

Angus admitted the club is frustrated by reoccurring ticketing problems but is optimistic the summer will allow those issues to be sorted.

He said: “We’re facing these issues due to the way the ticketing system was set up at the start of the season really.

“We thought we’d managed to correct a number of them for the Man City game, but obviously there are still a number of issues for people.

“That’s frustrating for them and frustrating for us as well because it puts more pressure on the staff.

“We’re aware of it, and we’re going to try and make sure the system is improved for next season.

“We need a bit of time, probably over the summer, to iron out any issues and reset because it was a bit of a mad rush last summer.”
