SWINDON Town head coach Ben Garner said the whole club felt completely “united” during the 2-1 victory over Forest Green Rovers in midweek and is asking for a repeat against Barrow on Saturday.

Town won their remaining game in hand to leave themselves within striking distance of the final play-off place but with just two matches to overturn a two-point deficit.

A match against already-safe Barrow is the next hurdle for Swindon to clear – a side which is now managed by former Town boss Phil Brown.

Should Garner’s side achieve anything like the standard of performance they produced against Forest Green, Swindon’s head coach is confident his team can take their season into the final day.

In order to do that though, Garner has asked for the same togetherness in which the 11,000 home fans displayed on Tuesday evening against the League Two leaders.

Garner said: “We’ve got to win the game and we’ve got to be on the front foot. We’re going to attack and be positive.

“We don’t want to come down from this high (post-Forest Green) too much, we want that intensity to our game.

“Hopefully there will be a fantastic atmosphere from the first minute again because that creates the intensity and lifts the players.

“It all just felt so united as a club on Tuesday night, and the celebrations at the end too.

“We want that every game, let’s have that in every single game we play no matter the competition.

“Let’s make this a really intimidating place for teams to come and a place our players love to play.”

With play-off rivals Sutton United facing Bradford City and Harrogate Town in their final pair, the form book would suggest Swindon will probably miss out on seventh by a painfully small margin.

However, Garner is “100 per cent sure” Swindon will sneak in should they take care of their own business against Barrow and Walsall.

He said: “We’ve just got to do what we need to do now. If we win our last two games, I’m 100 per cent sure we’ll be in the play-offs.

“What we don’t want to do is drop points somewhere and then end up regretting the position we’ve put ourselves in.

“All we can do is take care of business – Barrow is an absolutely huge game now. It’s our biggest game of the season.

“Hopefully we can get another huge crowd, have a great atmosphere, and put on another good performance where we get the three points.”
