GEORGE Box scored a hat-trick as Bradford Town thumped Royal Wootton Bassett Town 4-0 in the Hellenic League Premier Division last weekend.

In the first round of fixtures of 2022, the Bobcats resumed the kind of form that propelled them to within an outside shout of promotion before Christmas.

A tight first half gave underdogs, Bassett hope that they might be able to sneak a result. However, Box opened the scoring four minutes into the second half before adding another in the 53rd minute.

As Bassett searched for a route back into the contest, Box completed his hat-trick in the 79th minute, and Harvey Baker added insult to injury with a fourth goal in the 88th minute as Bradford moved up to fifth.

The Bobcats were able to leapfrog Wiltshire rivals Corsham Town after Kieran Baggs' men threw away a half-time lead at home to Longlevens on Saturday.

Longlevens had taken the lead initially before Gary Higdon levelled the contest in the 43rd minute and Matthew Morris snuck a second home in first-half stoppage time.

Corsham could not hold onto their lead after the break though as the visitors scored twice to snatch the points.

Westbury United began 2022 with a victory after scoring late to beat Hereford Lads Club 2-0 away from home.

With the contest goalless at the break, Harvey Flippance broke the deadlock midway through the second half before Sam Jordan finished Hereford off with the final kick of the game.

There was not such good news for Calne Town though, they lost 4-0 away to Thornbury Town on Tuesday night.

Elsewhere, in Western League Division One, Warminster Town beat Wells City 2-0 on Monday despite going down to 10 men.

Alex Churchyard was sent off for two yellow cards, but goals from Corey Gardner and Jack Miluk helped the Weymouth Street side to victory.
