Division One

The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Trowbridge and District Football League returned to action this weekend, and Hilperton United wasted no time, starting the season with a bang, thumping Freshford United 8-0. A hat-trick from Jake Samuel, two strikes apiece from Joey Cunningham and Jake Hiscocks, and a single effort from Ryan Underwood helped Hilperton to a perfect opening day, and sent a warning to the rest of the league.

The Duke FC started the season strongly with an excellent 4–1 victory over Division One newcomers Staverton Rangers. Sam McQueen opened the scoring for the Duke before a screamer from Jack Hayward made it two. A third was added before the break from Joseph Moloney before Charlie Barber pulled one back for Staverton in the second half. Jack Hayward netted his second of the match to complete the scoring.

A double strike from Adam Kenich and a single effort from Todd Pearce was enough to give Westbury United Reserves an opening day 3–0 win over Melksham Town Development.

Warminster United had an excellent opening day to the season with a 4–2 home win against Semington Magpies. Matthew Dyer led the way for Warminster with a reportedly world class hat-trick. Liam Gibbons added the fourth from the penalty spot. Alfie Little was on the scoresheet for Semington with a double strike.

Division Two

Derek Wheeler was the top scorer of the opening day in The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Trowbridge and District Football League. Wheeler scored four times in Seend United’s 6–0 win against Bromham Owls in their Division Two clash. Jack Booth and Tom Rooney were also on the scoresheet as Seend made their intentions clear to the rest of the division.

Dilton Marsh Wanderers ran out 5–3 winners in an excellent match against Trowbridge Town Reserves. Shane Rendall struck to give Dilton the lead in the 22nd minute before a penalty stroked home by Will Cook sixty seconds later levelled the score. Cook struck again for Trowbridge three minutes after the break, only for Kieran Palmer to respond for Dilton Marsh. Dom Mortimer put Dilton 3–2 up with a great strike, but Trowbridge equalised again through Lewis Coles to make the score three each. Almost instantly, Callum Crabb scored to put Dilton 4–3 ahead, and he finally saw Trowbridge off with his second and Diltons fifth with a minute remaining of a hard fought match.

The Stiffs and Westbury United ‘A’ shared eight goals and the points in an excellent 4–4 opening-day draw. The Stiffs goals were scored by Tom Wilkes, Ben Fielding, Steve Lewin and Luther Edwards. Aiden Fox with two goals, Harry Thorne and Nathan McCafferty were on the scoresheet for Westbury ‘A’ with the fourth strike coming with almost the last kick of the match.
