The Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort has held centre stage in a recent exciting tournament.

Lincolnshire golf pro Adam Keogh kept a cool head in sweltering conditions to win the English PGA Championship at the hotel.

The PGA Professional, from Woodhall Spa Golf Club, posted a course record-equalling nine-under-par round of 63 to establish a seven-shot lead on day one and extended that to eight on day two, going on to claim the £5,000 first prize in the final round.

Keogh said, “It’s my second visit here and both times have been stunning.

"Two years ago I was lucky enough to finish second and have gone one better this year – I love it.”

PGA Captain and previous Ryder Cup Captain, Bernard Gallacher OBE, presented Adam Keogh with the trophy.

Nicky Lawrenson, director of Golf and PGA Fellow Professional at Bowood Hotel, said she was delighted with the success of the event.

She said: “It has been an honour to be the hosting venue of the 2021 PGA English Championship and working alongside the PGA team.

"There was a great atmosphere during the three-day tournament, and it was lovely to see many of our members volunteering as starters, scorers and ball spotters around the course; their support during the week has been invaluable and greatly appreciated.”

Bowood has recently opened its new Performance Studio which provides the latest in launch monitor technology, the expert PGA Golf professionals can provide instant feedback on club delivery and ball flight utilising its ground breaking club and ball tracking golf radar systems.

The Performance Studio also offers the opportunity to play up to 100 world-famous golf courses, all appearing in detail on the Trackman simulator.
