ADVER Sport reporter Jonny Leighfield looks at a handful of strikers Swindon Town could sign to help them achieve promotion next season.

With the majority of Town’s retained list featuring defenders, I thought I would take a look at players up the other end of the pitch to see who the club could bring in over the summer.

The first potential acquisition I’ve noted down would be Wigan Athletic’s Joe Dodoo. When I saw him in the final game of the season, his general play caught my eye as he played second fiddle to Will Keane, Zak Clough, and Callum Lang.

Despite doing that for the second half of the season, Dodoo still managed four goals and three assists in 20 games playing off the left - think Hallam Hope replacement.

Another option up front could be West Bromwich Albion’s U23 striker, Owen Windsor. The 19-year-old scored in an EFL Trophy game against Town last season before spending time at Grimsby Town and Newport County.

In what would be his second season in professional football, I would expect Windsor to utilise his powerful body to greater effect and better the three goals in 15 appearances he managed last term.

Third - and this is more out of hope than real expectation - would be Kyle Bennett.

The winger enjoyed a pretty successful cameo under Richie Wellens at the back end of the 2018-19 season before being linked to return in the summer.

I believe wages might be a stumbling block, but Bennett may still be capable of producing a similar level of quality to that which he managed a couple of seasons back.

Finally, the wildcard of the group, is Plymouth Argyle’s Klaidi Lolos. The Greek forward spent time on loan at Chippenham Town earlier this season but was unable to play much due to Covid. Pilgrims boss Ryan Lowe said he would recommend the 20-year-old to anyone and believes the academy graduate could do a job in League Two.
