AT THE end of another eventful – and ultimately disappointing – campaign, it’s time for you to vote for your Adver Sport player of the season.

You can only vote once per person, and the poll ends on Sunday, May 9 at 11pm. The winner will be announced live on Facebook at the Official Supporters Club's end of season presentation on Tuesday, May 11 at 7pm.

Listed below are the five nominees and a short summary around why they were chosen.

AKIN ODIMAYO

In his first full season in senior football, Odimayo has played 30 times and has been a part of all four of Town’s quartet of league clean sheets. His pace, strength and athleticism has made him a versatile defender capable of performing well at centre-back or right-back. Though he has been guilty of a handful of underwhelming performances – as have all of his teammates – Odimayo has more often than not been a reliable presence in a shaky back line.

JACK PAYNE

Town’s top appearance-maker by some distance with 44 (at time of writing), Payne may well have only miss four games in all competitions all season. Though he is not always perfect, the London-born midfielder consistently tops the running stats and tries his very best for the team. Payne has assisted seven and scored four this term, with the aforementioned praise being one of the reasons why Championship clubs are looking at taking him away from the County Ground.

BRETT PITMAN

Pitman overcame a slow start to the season by scoring important goals which helped Town secure some positive results and, until a 2-1 defeat at Accrington in mid-March, the Jersey-born striker had never scored in a Town loss. The club’s second highest appearance-maker this season, Pitman has tried to lead the line to the best of his ability, with a budding partnership with Tyler Smith perhaps coming too late for all concerned to really benefit.

MATT SMITH

The FA Cup winner wasted no time in impressing onlookers at the County Ground with his passing, touch, presence of mind and movement. Scorer of two and provider of four, Smith only played 26 games before being sold to Charlton Athletic in January. But the effect he had on the team and the quality he showed made him a completely valid option for Adver Sport player of the year.

SCOTT TWINE

The homegrown talent enjoyed an unbelievable first half of the season on loan at Newport County and carried on where he left off when returning to the County Ground in January. One of five goals in 23 games came against Ipswich Town in front of the Sky Sports cameras as the pocket rocket let fly successfully from 30 yards. In an unforgettable season for Twine, the versatile attacker has also provided three assists.
