SWINDON Town assistant manager Tommy Wright says the club has no plans to send any loanees back to their parent clubs despite John Sheridan bringing in a seventh loan player on Monday.

Norwich City striker Tyrese Omotoye was the latest recruit to arrive at the County Ground on a temporary basis, meaning the Town boss will be forced to leave two loan players out of his match day squad from now on.

The arrival of Omotoye threw more doubt over the future of Sheffield United striker, Tyler Smith who has seen his opportunities become more and more limited since the arrival of Sheridan in November.

But when asked whether Omatoye’s arrival would ultimately force Smith’s departure, Wright suggested the management team is happy to keep the surplus loanees around for the time being.

Wright said: “It’s always difficult when you’ve got loans because they’ve come here to play and be involved.

“At the moment, we’re quite happy with the situation.

“But the players want to play, so they might have a look at their situation. At the moment, the seven are here and we’re happy with the situation.”

Wright went on to confirm Town’s four senior centre-backs would miss at least the next fortnight with injuries.

Mathieu Baudry, Tom Broadbent, Jonathan Grounds and Zeki Fryers will all be missing ‘long-term’, according to Wright, who also suggested the club is not desperate to move players on if they don’t want to leave.

He said: “With our injury record, we need to keep cover.

“But if a chance comes up where some of them can go and play somewhere, that might be a different scenario, but that hasn’t happened yet.

“They’re here, they’ll be involved, and whoever we think is best for the job will play.”
