CHIPPENHAM Town got off to a losing start in National League South after a 3-0 defeat away at Hungerford Town on Tuesday night.
Two first-half goals from Ryan Seager and James Rusby gave Hungerford a deserved lead at the break, before Craig Fasanmade added a third in the second-half.
Mike Cook’s men were behind after just 10 minutes at Bulpit Lane as Callum Willmoth’s well-timed through ball found Seager, who made no mistake from close range.
The Chippenham boss admitted Hungerford were far the better team throughout, and the hosts proved that with a second goal when Rusby guided his effort into the bottom right-hand corner.
The visitors failed to respond after the break and Fasanmade added a third midway through the second half.
He cut inside onto his left-foot past Chippenham’s left-back before unleashing a powerful effort into the top right-hand corner of the net.
Chippenham did have an excellent chance to pull one back late on, but a top save from Hungerford ‘keeper Luke Cairney prevented a consolation for Cook’s men on a disappointing night.
