SWINDON Town have added another new face to their squad after young winger Jordan Stevens penned a season-long loan deal.

The 20-year-old joins from Premier League outfit Leeds United and will be aiming to put himself in contention for a place in the squad when Town host Burton Albion on Saturday.

Leeds signed Stevens from League Two side Forest Green Rovers in 2018 but he has only made five appearances for the Yorkshire giants.

Stevens said: “I’m more than happy that the deal is finally done. I’m looking forward to getting to meet the lads and see where League One gets us.

“Swindon are a club that have just been promoted, the club is close to family which is great.”

“I’m looking forward to working under Richie Wellens, he’s an ex-player and that’s the sort of manager I want to work for.”

“With this league, any team can beat any team, so hopefully we can do our best and see where that takes us.”

Stevens is boss Wellens’ 12th signing of the summer as he continues to build a new attack after the loss of last season's title-winning frontline.

After Saturday’s 2-0 defeat away to Blackpool Wellens revealed he is expecting Stevens to be ready for the weekend.

Unlike forwards Brett Pitman and Joel Grant, who were without a club in the summer, Stevens has had the benefit of match practice.

He said: “I expect him, when he comes in, to be fully 100 per cent.

“I’ve watched him play two games in the last week so he’ll be 100 per cent match fit.

“Obviously the lads who were out of contract, they can do all they want in the park, they can do every exercise and go to the gym as much as they want but there’s no recipe for football.”

Pitman and Grant both made appearances off the bench during the defeat on the Lancashire coast, with Wellens saying a lack of match fitness meant they couldn’t start.
