1910: Magpies take cup final place
Swindon Town line-up against Newcastle United for their first ever appearance in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Playing in front of a 33,000 crowd at White Hart Lane, Town narrowly missed out on the lead when Freddy Wheatcroft hit the woodwork on the hour.
Two Newcastle goals followed to deny Swindon a spot in the showpiece final.
1951: Shots bite the bullet
This Monday game saw Town complete a thumping 4-0 win over Aldershot as Jimmy Bain, Maurice Owen, Garth Hudson and William Millar all found the net at the County Ground.
That, however, would be the last time Swindon won on this date – they have since drawn four and lost five fixtures on March 26.
1980: The manager is born
Current Swindon Town chief Richie Wellens was born on this day 40 years ago in Moston, Manchester.
Since taking the reins at the County Ground, Wellens has won 32 of his 72 matches in charge.
Take out cup competitions though, and he has a win rate of just under 49 per cent.
