Admiral Muskwe confident Swindon Town can help progress him to the next level

The striker recalls watching his temporary boss Richie Wellens play for City while he was still very much learning the trade as a teenager in the club’s U13s squad.

Having scored plenty of goals at youth level, Muskwe was keen to broaden his Football League horizons while he is still eligible to play for Foxes’ youth team.

To date, he has made two appearances off the bench for Wellens. But the 21-year-old hopes more minutes will come to him as the season progresses.

He added: “I’m enjoying every minute of my time here, and it’s different to what I’ve been used to.

“Each game here is a competitive game and we’re in a fight to win promotion.

“The facilities here are different, but still good and allow us to do all the training we require.

“For my progression, going out on loan was the next step if I’m to develop as a player.

“When Swindon came calling, I really couldn’t say no. It’s the best platform for me to kick on and start my professional career.

“Usually I play down the centre, but I can play out wide or as a 10.

“There’s always pressure when you are part of a team that’s high up the table. But, from an internal point of view, we’re all trying to achieve that goal of promotion.

“If we carry on performing at the level we are, we’ll get the business done.”

Muskwe never crossed paths with Wellens during his playing days, but as mentioned he did watch the now 39-year-old ply his trade at the King Power Stadium towards the start of the last decade.

Knowing Wellens’ playing style and character on the pitch made him feel that bit more welcome in Wiltshire when he did sign on the dotted line.

“I remember watching him play, but don’t recall him in the sense that I had a connection,” said Muskwe.

“It made me feeling welcome joining a club where I knew of the manager though.

“When I’ve been given the opportunity to come on I think I’ve done well, and I hope to show more.”
