YOUNG ice hockey star Joe Caccavale is getting his skates on ready to take part in an international tournament in Canada next week.
Joe, 11, who is a pupil at Abbeyfield School, Chippenham is a member of Swindon Pumas and it will be the only British team in the prestigious competition in Quebec.
JAbbeyfield joint head teacher Ralph Ponting said: “We are all very proud of Joe.”
Joe, who has played on the right wing for Swindon Pumas for the past four years, will be part of the U13 team.
Head of Year 7 Sarah Jones said: “Whilst in Quebec Joe will be staying with a French speaking family and have an opportunity to practice his French. This is a fantastic opportunity for him.”
Joe’s parents Sarah and Paul Caccavale said: “He is counting the days and is so excited.
“We really appreciate the support the school has shown Joe about his tournament. He says that many children and teachers have wished him good luck.”
