DIVISION ONE Trowbridge based Ship FC opened up a four-point lead at the top of the Division One after they defeated Kingfisher FC and Potterne suffered a surprise loss away at North Bradley. The Ship's first half display against their guests Kingfisher at the Stallards playing field was very disjointed to say the least as many players seemed to be preparing for the forthcoming Pantomime season. Lee Hayward's side found themselves 2-1 down at the brake but got their act together in the second 45 minutes to run out 5-3 winners over a hard tackling Kingfisher side. An evenly matched first half saw Dave Percival, Lee Hayward and Tom Bonsor all miss easy chances for the Ship and they fell behind when comical defending from Adam Glover was punished by Ben Thomas who pounced to put Fisher in front on 38 minutes. Kingfisher had the chance to double their advantage and only a great save from Lewis Porter, who was at full stretch to deny Tom Highmore kept the score at 1-0. On 43 minutes the Ship were back on level term when Glover atoned for his earlier mishap when he bundled the ball home despite the best efforts of Kingfisher's keeper Mark Bolton who was unable to keep the ball out despite getting his had to Glover's shot. In first half injury time Kingfisher regained the lead when a clumsy challenge on Luke Stoneham by Scott Cunningham resulted in a penalty being awarded which was duly dispatched by Nick Still to give the visitors to Trowbridge a 2-1 lead. The Ship were a better team in the second period and squared things up when Dave Percival tapped the ball home after his brother Shaun's initial shot came back of the woodwork. Danny Amorouso's delicate chip over keeper Bolton gave the Ship the lead for the first time in the game and when Lee Hayward headed home a Scott Cunningham cross the points were as could as theirs. Kingfisher hit back with Ben Thomas scoring his second of the game to cut the gap to the odd goal ,but a second of the contest from Dave Percival restored the Ship's two goal advantage which they maintained until the final whistle.

North Bradley picked up their first points of the season and in the process they claimed the scalp of second in the table Potterne who had won all their previous six matches. Bradley might not be that good on the road but their 3-2 home victory proved that they can field a team of high quality for their home matches when they want too. Bradley started well and pinned Potterne back in their own half and were rewarded with a goal after eight minutes when they won a free kick just outside Potterne's box, Tim Benjamin's well shot, went through the pack and was helped into the by James Dowd's final touch. Potterne were back on level terms 15 seconds after the restart when Joe Unsworth beat Bradley's defence and goal keeper Mark Binns to bring the score to 1-1. In the 12th minute North Bradley regained the advantage when Matt Coles beat his marker and tucked the ball into the bottom corner past Potterne's diving Craig Campbell to restore their lead. On 33 minutes Matt Coles well timed cross was met by James Dowd's who headed home to stretch Bradley's lead, with half time looming, Potterne had no answer to Bradley and were thankful for the whistle to end the first 45 minutes.

The second half started slowly with Potterne trying to use their pace up front to outwit a much stronger side on the day, Mark Binns had a great game in goal for North Bradley as he kept his teams lead by pulling off some fine saves, until the 85th minute when Potterne's Steven House made run down the wing to beat his marker and Binns, who came out to close the gap down, House crossed for Peter Huntley who fired in to an empty net. With five minutes to play, Potterne threw everything at Bradley hoping to find an equaliser, but they could not find a way through Bradley's solid back four which helped Leigh Trainer in the absence of manager Steve Eade guide Bradley to their first win of the season against an under performing Potterne side.

The return of Scott Askew made all the difference to Coyote as his four goals helped them to a 5-4 win over struggling Christian Malford who have won the reverse fixture 4-2 back in September. Coyote started with nine men but two late arrivals eventually brought them to full strength, while Malford had to field three players with injuries. Malford's early numerical advantage eventually began to tell and after 10 minutes Stewart Murray scored his first goal of the season to finish off a run and pass from Aaron Merryweather. After 14 minutes Malford went 2-0 up when the Coyote keeper Ashley Haines failed to hold Paul Boorman's fierce drive from outside the area. Despite having the extra man Malford could not find the killer touch and were punished after 32 minutes when Scott Askew met a cross from the right, heading back across goal to score Coyote's first. With Coyote now at full strength they came more in to the game and after 40 minutes equalised when Scott Askew took advantage of poor defending to volley home his second.

The second half again saw Malford dominating and going close on several occasions and Coyote proving dangerous on the break. After 66 minutes Malford went 3-2 in front when Mark Golledge met Mark Openshaw's cross to volley home. After 73 minutes Coyote hit back when Scott Askew took advantage of a goalkeeping error by Grant Christie who saved a low volley to his right but failed to hold the ball allowing Askew an easy tap in for his hat trick and the equaliser. After 77 minutes Askew scored his fourth to give Coyote a 4-3 lead when the defence allowed him to pounce on a loose ball and volley home. Two minutes later Coyote extended their lead to 5-3 when Martin Narwocki's volley from outside the area beat everyone. Although Malford tired badly they seemed to find a second wind as Aaron Merryweather's cross was back heeled home by Mark Golledge to reduce Coyote's lead to the odd goal. The last four minutes were somewhat frantic as Malford pressed for an equaliser but Coyote held out to take the points and gain revenge for their earlier defeat.

Atworth United arrived at a misty Biddestone Arms with several players nursing sore heads from a result of attending Rikki Sullivan's stag night the previous day and despite the less than ideal preparation Atworth picked up another two points courtesy of a 4-2 victory. Atworth adapted well to a new formation and took the lead after 10 minutes when the prolific Ross Menghini walked through home defence and coolly slotted past the home keeper. 10 minutes later Andy Robins operating in a new central midfield role produced a deft 20 yard left foot chip which flew into the Biddestone goal to put the visitors two up. Minutes before half time Biddestone dragged themselves back into the game to turnaround trailing by the odd goal thanks to Paul Dixon. The next goal was going to be crucial and Atworth's Phil Strange cleared an effort off the line before team mate Jack Adcock ,who dragged himself off the bench, turned home a low cross to put the game beyond Biddestone. However Atworth's joy was short lived when Sean Fordham got involved in some chit chat with the referee and found himself leaving the field for an early bath much to the annoyance of Atworth manager Mark Jeffery who was proud of the record that until this game his team had not suffered any bookings. This spurred on the home side and they quickly pulled the score back to 3-2 thanks to Rich Chaffey's third goal of the season. Biddestone put Atworth under pressure but they held firm and Glenn Young was prominent having been released from his marking role of the last few weeks. Atworth sealed their win in the game in the dying moments when the veteran Stuart Holland belied his years as he reacted quickest of all to the chaos caused by an Ian Jeffery corner to smash the ball home from an acute angle and reeled away in delight to celebrate his first goal since April with the loyal band of travelling supporters and complete the 4-2 victory.

Rowde moved up to third place after their 3-0 home victory over an out of sorts AFC Calne for whom it was their fourth defeat on the bounce after they had stared well with two wins, but in their last four games they have failed to hit the target. All three of Rowde's goals came from the productive Jamie Mullings whose hat trick took his tally for the season to 12. Mullings first came on 20 minutes with his second arriving on 65 minutes when he pounced to knock the ball homes after Dudley Philpot's shot had been spilt by Calne keeper Aaron Ward. Mullings completed his treble five minutes from time when he scored from the penalty spot.

Basement side Chippenham Sports & Social Club slumped to their seventh loss of the campaign away at Foresters Arms whose 4-1 success moved them into the top half of the table. Chris Turk gave Foresters the lead, which was cancelled out before half time by Paul Herring's first goal of the season. Foresters regained the lead via Steve Pegler and an inspired substitution from manager Dave Robinson saw him introduce Ben Whitehouse into the fray on 75 minutes and within minutes Whitehouse had scored to give the hosts a 3-1 lead and despite the best efforts of Sports keeper Graham Jones, Whitehouse found the target again to complete the scoring to earn his team the points for the first time in three matches.
