CALNE claimed the bragging rights against county rivals Minety as they claimed a 27-17 win at home in Dorset & Wilts One North.

Matt Chisholm scored twice for Minety and Matt Stone also touched down, but the visitors were left to travel home with nothing to show for their efforts.

The result leaves Calne seventh in the table, while Minety are down at second bottom of the standings.

There was also disappointment for Sutton Benger in another all-Wiltshire affair as they lost 29-15 away at Melksham.

  • PEWSEY Vale showed their class in Dorset & Wilts Two North with a dominant 55-0 success at home to Devizes 2nd.

Vale ran in nine tries on the day and look likely to contend for promotion this season as they currently sit third in the table.

Pewsey blitzed their visitors with four tries in the opening 20 minutes. Toni Bloomfield bagged a brace and there was one each for Jamie Fox and Ben Bowman, with James Haynes adding one conversion.

Devizes dug in and spent the rest of the first half camped in Pewsey territory but each attack was blunted by a strong home defence.

Within one minute of receiving the second-half restart, Pewsey surged forwards and Bloomfield dotted down in the corner to complete his hat-trick.

Dominating set play and field position, Vale ran in four more tries in the next 30 minutes. Haynes notched two, Olly Lavis marked his return from a long injury lay-off with a touchdown and Bloomfield took his tally to four for the day.

Haynes’ also added one conversion to complete a fine Pewsey performance.
