MANOR House Golf Club and Hotel hosted the season finale of the 2019 Wiltshire County Junior Development Tour.

Each of the eight development tour events held this season have brought a huge amount of pleasure to all those who took part, and finals day was no exception.

A full day of events awaited the players at the Castle Combe course, including a series of skills challenges in the morning.

After lunch, a Texas Scramble team competition took place where all players were divided into teams of four via a random draw.

A prize presentation concluded activities on the day, with trophies given out for both finals day and the season-long Order of Merit.

James Legg, of The Wiltshire, won the U12s boys skills challenge with 103 points ahead of Chippenham’s Marcus Potter (97) and North Wilts’ Toby Spedding (95).

The U10s boys skills challenge was won by West Wilts’ Toby Morris on 95 points. Bassett Down’s Thomas Melluish was runner-up (93), with Bowood’s Ted Hodgkinson third (88).

Daisy Perrett, of North Wilts, won the girls skills challenge with a score of 91. Wrag Barn’s Alecia Carash (77) and Chippenham’s Mille Potter (75) were second and third respectively.

The quartet of Thomas Innes, Ted Hodgkinson, Isla Campbell and Jordan Murphy won the Texas Scramble team competition.

Junior Development Tour organizer Ian Welding said: “These events don’t run themselves – people give up a lot of their time and effort for the development tour.

“A massive thank-you to Manor House Golf Club general manager Andy Ryan and all his superb staff who looked after us so well on the day.

“Thanks also to Sandra Samra, our county junior press officer, who does a huge amount of work for the development tour.

“And also to the county in general and Chippenham Golf Club junior organiser Colin Rossitter, who also gives up a lot of his time to not only the development tour but to junior golf at Chippenham.

“Without their help, the tour just would not exist.

“Finally, we owe a massive debt of thanks to all the players and parents who helped out on finals day, and all those who supported finals day and the development tour throughout the season.

“Special thanks to county U18s elite squad player and 2019 Manor House Golf Club junior captain Dom Samra for presenting the prizes.”
