HARVEY Flippance’s late penalty snatched a point for Melksham Town Reserves following a 2-2 draw away at Frome Collegians in the only Wiltshire League Premier Division game to survive the wet weather at the weekend.

The fixture was due to be played on grass, but with Frome’s home pitch unplayable due to the recent heavy rain, Collegians switched the location to a nearby 3G pitch.

Barry Sandquest’s brace had put the home side 2-1 in front before a late penalty for Melksham gave Flippance the chance to complete a double of his own and take a point for his team.

The Melksham striker duly obliged from the spot to help his side move above Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development and into seventh place in the table.

Meanwhile, Frome remain in 13th but have moved to within two points of a handful of teams above them.

Trowbridge Town’s clash against Stratton Juniors in the first round of the Fountain Trophies Knockout Cup was also postponed, as was Purton’s meeting with Wroughton.
