Adver Sport assess the performances of the Swindon Town players after their 3-0 defeat at home to Plymouth Argyle in the Leasing.com Trophy.

Steven Benda – 5

Came for crosses well, but looked a little nervous throughout and had an unorthodox save technique at times. Could do nothing about any of the goals. I don’t think Luke McCormick will be unduly worried about his starting spot for the time being.

Tyler Reid – 4

Looks like a lost lamb most of the time. Put in a couple of wayward crosses going forward and did not look defensively sound at the other end as he was tormented by the experienced Gary Sawyer.

Taylor Curran – 5

Went about his duties with the expected desire and energy of someone who is starved of professional game time, but was unfortunate to be forced off through injury after getting a whack to the head in the first half. Subbed.

Gabriel Zakuani – 5.5

Often just did the basics well – e.g. put his foot through it when necessary – and his experience saved him on a couple of occasions, but like the rest, he will have better games.

Ellis Iandolo – 4.5

Not his best game again and was often caught out of position before being substituted thanks to an unfortunate injury early in the second half. Subbed.

Adam May – 5

Tried his best to get on the ball and make things happen, but was let down by a lack of support around him and often chose an optimistic pass instead of keeping it simple.

Danny Rose – 4.5

For someone of his experience, he should be able to be good at keeping things simple and finding a man in red. Yet too often, that was not the case and did not help May either.

Michael Doughty – 4

Was recently criticised by the manager for not working hard enough, and did not show any signs of putting much effort in during this game either. Didn’t get on the ball enough, however the lack of options going forward was startling.

Lloyd Isgrove – 4

Has too often been found drifting in and out of games following a good start in the league. One could make an argument for saying that he never really drifted into this game at all.

Kaiyne Woolery – 4

Ineffective on the wing with few crosses reaching the box and looked even less of a threat up front. His touch left him a long time ago it would seem.

Eoin Doyle – 4

His lack of chances will always affect his rating as he cannot get about the pitch as he once could. No service meant no chances and no goal on his return. Subbed.

SUBSTITUTES

Tom Broadbent – 5 Did not do his prospects of a first-team return much harm really. Headed and blocked everything he could, but the damage was already done.

Scott Twine – 4 He still does not look ready for this level and could do with a loan spell away to bulk up and come back when he is physically ready.

Rob Hunt – 5

Put in another solid display, but could not do much as a left-back with his team already 2-0 down and going nowhere.
