ROYAL Wootton Bassett Town were unable to double their win tally for the season in Hellenic League Premier Division on Saturday as they fell to a 4-2 defeat at home to Windsor.

Excellence Mahumba put Windsor ahead at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground but Bassett’s Alfie Presley made it 1-1 at the break.

The visitors then took control after the restart and efforts from Andrew Ingram, Kingsley Etefia and Luke Brooks-Smith pushed them three goals to the good.

Bassett were able to get a second goal of their own through TJ Bohane, although it proved little more than a consolation in the end.

Sam Collier's side go on the road this Saturday as they are away at Ardley United.

In Division One West, Malmesbury Victoria remain at the top of the table despite falling to a 2-0 defeat away at Cheltenham Saracens.

The Vics stay at the head of the standings on goal difference, with Thornbury Town having matched their points tally of 15 after a big win over New College Swindon.

Malmesbury turn their attentions to the FA Vase this Saturday as they host Roman Glass St George in the first qualifying round.

The following Tuesday, Malmesbury welcome Stonehouse Town to the Flying Monk Ground in the Hellenic Floodlit Cup.

  • PEWSEY Vale's run of defeats in all competitions extended to an eighth game last weekend as they were thumped 5-0 at Andover New Street in Sydenhams League Division One.

Jazz Beavis scored all five goals for the home side in a sensational individual performance to leave Vale on just one point from 10 league games this season.

Pewsey host Folland Sports this Saturday before travelling to Downton on Tuesday.
