DEVIZES Canoe Club paddlers recorded two wins when a hefty contingent travelled to Southampton to compete in the Hasler Finals on the Hamble.

In large classes consisting of up to 50 competitors, entrants had to battle high tides, deep water and gusting winds.

Leading the way were Jamie Lovell and Daisie Ball, who finished on the top step of the podium in Division 9 and Division 12F respectively.

Dan Jones was first up in Division 2, coming home 12th, while Devizes had two races in Division 4 as Mollie Ball was 13th and Charlie Allen 19th.

James Cleaver was 18th in Division 5, with William Scaplehorn fifth in Division 8 ahead of Beatrix Fooks in 20th.

Devizes also had entrants in the pairs races, with the best performance coming from Neil Edgar and Kevin Crabb as they came third in Division 5.

Juliet Fooks and Andy Elworthy were 18th in the same class, Flossie Ball and Mark Ball were 11th in Division 3 and Jill Priday and Jenny Jones placed 22nd in Division 7.
