TERRITORY and possession domination paid few dividends for Minety on Saturday as they slipped to a 10-0 loss away to Warminster.

Two tries either side of the half-time whistle bagged Warminster their third win of the season out of three – but they again failed to record any winning bonus points, and consequently sit on nine points.

Minety, meanwhile, suffered their second defeat of the season, but are only two points behind their weekend rivals with seven points secured in their opening three games.

Saturday’s test started brightly for the visitors as Warminster struggled to gain any possession in Minety’s half amid blustery head winds.

In truth, Minety should’ve opened the scoring with 22 minutes played but a penalty deep into the hosts’ half was run unsuccessfully.

Minety then suffered the loss of Del Murray, who was forced off the pitch with a head injury.

Kieran Tillotson and Andrew Hibbard both went close to scoring, before Minety were made to pay for their missed chances when Warminster crossed over in the first minute of first half stoppage time.

Warminster added to their points tally shortly after the break. A failed attempt to run the ball out of their own 22 resulted in the home side’s full-back touching down for a comfortable second.

Minety couldn’t respond, and slipped to a second defeat of the season.

Meanwhile, Sutton Benger faired much better as they won 43-17 away at Chippenham 2nd to make it three victories from three this season.

It was a tough day for Calne, though, as they were crushed 59-0 at home by Avonvale.

A LATE blip saw Pewsey Vale beaten 28-18 at home by Westbury in Dorset & Wilts Two North.

Successful penalty kicks for both teams were following by another penalty for Westbury and a converted try.

Henri Balls then charged over the whitewash for Vale off the back of a lineout, with Regan adding the extras.

Another Regan penalty tied the scores but Westbury landed a kick of their own just before half-time to lead 16-13.

With 15 minutes to go, Pewsey lost a vital lineout and Westbury scored a converted try.

The visitors then ran in a third touchdown of the day shortly afterwards before Pewsey grabbed a consolation try at the death.
