REIGNING champions Wroughton jumped to the top of the Wiltshire League Premier Division table after extending their 100 per cent record to a seventh game on Saturday with a 5-1 win at home to Melksham Town Reserves.

Shane Hibbert scored two penalties on the way to a hat-trick, while Aaron Maximen and Tom Dingle also struck for Wroughton. Seth Wain got Melksham’s sole reply.

Shrewton United had started the day at the summit but dropped to third after a 2-2 draw away at Frome Collegians.

Charlie Jackson’s strike and an own goal gave Shrewton a 2-0 lead at the break but efforts from Barry Sandquest and Theo Sing in the second half saw Collegians fight back to share the spoils.

Purton sit second – one point behind leaders Wroughton but having played two games more – after they beat Marlborough Town 4-1 at home.

George Drewitt struck twice for Purton and there was a goal each for Daren Regis and Will Backhouse. Craig Simmons’ got Marlborough’s reply.

The biggest win of the weekend was recorded by Holt as they triumphed 5-0 away at Ludgershall Sports, who remain without a point.

The goals were shared around as Adam Mercer, Joe Moloney, Will Bayley, Josh Maguire and Jon Wood all hit the back of the net.

Malmesbury Victoria Development edged to a 3-2 success away at Trowbridge Town.

Ant Brown, Harrison Archer and Joe Tranter scored for Malmesbury, while Trowbridge replied through Aaron Masson and a Jacob Sainsbury penalty.

Corsham Town came from behind to triumph 2-1 at Cricklade Town.

Tom Hoskins put Cricklade ahead but Ryan Withers got Corsham back level before Dan Larnder scored the winner from the penalty spot.

Finally, Stratton Juniors and Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development played out a goalless draw.
