LIKELY LINE-UP
ONE TO WATCH: Padraig Amond
SINCE joining Newport County from Hartlepool for an undisclosed fee in August 2017, Padraig Amond’s impact in south Wales has been unquestionable.
The 31-year-old Irish-born striker has notched 31 goals in his 98 league appearances for County – that includes a five-game scoring spree in the middle of last season.
Amond’s record in front of goal this term mirrors his efforts from seasons past.
Five goals in 12 apperances might not be as impressive as Eoin Doyle’s free-scoring record at SN1.
But with Corey Whitely and Jamille Matt either side, Amond could well add some value to County’s 3-1 price tag.
KEY BATTLE: Kaiyne Woolery v Kyle Howkins
WHEN Kyle Howkins joined Newport County on a two-year deal on a free transfer this summer, Exiles fans simply could not hide their delight.
He has already made the EFL’s Team of the Week, while County boast the second best defensive record in the division – with just six goals conceded in the club’s opening 10 League Two games.
Kaiyne Woolery has been known to fluff his lines every now and then, and it’s possible Howkins’ ability in front of Newport stopper King could provide Town’s forward with a stiff task in front of goal.
Similarly, keeping Howkins occupied to create space for proven scorer Jerry Yates could be part of Woolery’s game plan.
