SEVERAL Wiltshire riders impressed when Castle Combe hosted the Superbike Grand National last weekend alongside the penultimate round of the NG Road Race Championships.
Former World Superbikes champion Carl Fogarty was the star attraction, while Etchilhampton racer and current British Superbikes Tommy Bridewell was also in attendance.
Trowbridge’s Chris Oliver, who has already been crowned 2019 Newcomers NG 1300cc champion, was in action on his The Garage-backed Yamaha R1.
Competing in the 1300cc Streetstock Championship, Oliver notched three podium finishes from three starts, including a victory, to lift this class title with one round left.
The 700cc Streetstock championship races saw Melksham’s Russell Hynes notch a fifth and two fourth places on his 675cc Triumph Daytona in his final event before retiring.
Broughton Gifford’s Travis Vince competed in the ACU 250cc GP National and NG Cup Championship races on his TZ 250cc Yamaha.
In the first two races, he finished fifth and third in the ACU sections and led the field in the NG Cup class, however, a crash meant Vince was unable to finish the third race.
