FEMI Akinbobola was Team Bath AC’s star athlete in the latest Avon Track & Field League meeting, writes KEVIN FAHEY.

The Chippenham-based speedster notched up a sizzling hat-trick of wins in the senior men’s 100m (11.3secs), the 200m (22.7secs) and the 110m hurdles (16.0secs).

The victory in the sprint hurdles was particularly impressive as his time not only broke the long-standing Avon League record but also beat his personal best, which formerly stood at 17.9secs.

For good measure, Akinbobola also brought Team Bath’s 4x100m relay team home a long way ahead of the opposition for victory in 46.8secs.

Sadly those wins weren’t enough to earn Team Bath victory as they were confirmed in third behind North Somerset AC and Yate & District AC.

Other winners for Team Bath were Emily Jones in the U13 girls' high jump with a PB of 1.35m, with Ciara Galvin second with 1.25m.

Sister Sophie Jones won the U13s javelin with 17.66m, Lottie Singleton won the U15s javelin with 21.77m and Eleni Francis won the U15s triple jump with 9.90m.

In the older age groups, Abi Davies won the senior 100m in 12.7secs, while Becci Ousby won the senior 400m in 64.2secs and Eleanor Webster claimed the U17s 1500m in 4:59.4.

On the male side, there were wins for Alex Knight (U15s 800m, 2:15.6) and Alex Hearn (U13s long jump, 4.12m). Hearn was also second in the 800m (2:29.6) and third in the 100m (14.0secs).

Other male winners were Dominic Murray (U15s 80m hurdles in 13.5secs), Jake Cover (U17s 100m hurdles in 14.1secs), Ransford Ako'nai (senior long jump with 5.21m) and Keelan Tucker (U17s discus with 28.63m).

Second places went to Sophie Jones (U13s 75m in 10.8secs and 70m hurdles in 13.6secs), Emily Jones (U13s 1200m in 4:25.9), Lottie Silverton (U15s 1500m in 5:10.4, and high jump with 1.40m).

For the boys, second places went to Dominic Murray (U15s long jump with 5.13m), Joe Carter (U17s 100m in 11.4secs), Imam Qazi (Vets 100m in 12.6secs), Lucas Regazzo (110m hurdles in 18.0secs) and Alex Burton (U17s 200m in 23.0secs).
