SWINDON Town manager Richie Wellens was sent off following an incident after the full-time whistle during his side’s Carabao Cup defeat away at Colchester United on Tuesday night.
The club have confirmed to the Advertiser that the Town boss was given his marching orders by referee Charles Breakspear in the aftermath of his side's 3-0 first-round exit.
Colchester assistant manager Steve Ball was also shown a red card, with Town forward Jerry Yates and United full-back Cohen Bramall having earlier been given their marching orders for an incident during the match.
The referee’s report has now been sent to the Football Association for study as the club await to hear on any possible sanction.
