SWINDON Town have been dealt an injury blow after it was confirmed winger Diallang Jaiyesimi will be out of action for at least nine weeks with a twisted ankle.

Jaiyesimi signed for Town on loan from Premier League club Norwich last Friday (August 2) after catching Richie Wellens’ eye while under the Canaries’ guidance.

But the 21-year-old twisted his ankle in training ahead of Chelsea’s visit in the Leasing.com Trophy on Tuesday night.

And he could be out for as long as three months – enough time for Wellens to require an immediate replacement.

Wellens said: “The scans aren’t great, we’re going to have to replace him. If you look at my bench in terms of attacking options, it’s pretty bare.

“We’re lucky we turned the game around quickly. But there will be occasions in the future where we go a goal behind and we’ll need a spark of life.

“My only attacking option behind me is Scott Twine, and I could do with more.

“We’ve got a couple of different reports that indicate nine to 12 weeks.

“We have a lot of games in the next nine to 12 weeks and we will need those bodies.”
