ANTHONY Lynn grabbed a hat-trick as Swindon Town under 18s thumped their Newport County peers 7-1 in Wales on Friday afternoon.

Town made it back-to-back Youth Alliance league wins to start the season following their hard fought 2-0 victory at home to Bristol Rovers on the opening weekend.

Harry Parsons netted a brace in the first game of Town’s Youth Alliance south-west division season last Saturday, and after manager David Farrell complained of a slow start against The Gas, there was to be no such problems when facing Newport.

Lynn opened the scoring in the 13th minute before Rhys Wells doubled the visitors’ lead just two minutes later.

And following further dominance from Farrell’s boys in the opening half, Toby Holland netted Town’s third shortly before the break.

County had already suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Exeter City in their opening fixture of the campaign, and the second half proved to be of similar ilk for the Welsh side.

Lynn struck again twice in the second 45 while Holland scooped another to add to his season tally.

And while the home side did manage to get their name on the scoresheet during the second half, Josh Taylor was able to add insult to injury before time expired, scoring Town’s seventh.

Town take on Oxford United at Stanley Park next Saturday.
