SID Nelson will not re-sign for Swindon Town this summer, with manager Richie Wellens explaining the defender has moved out of the club’s price range.

Nelson made 23 appearances in all competitions for Town last season during a six-month loan stay following his capture on the eve of the Football League season by former manager Phil Brown.

The 23-year-old became a fans’ favourite, and supporters were disappointed when an extension to his loan deal – or indeed a permanent move – couldn’t be reached in the January transfer window, by which time Richie Wellens had taken over as manager.

Wellens stated he would attempt to sign Nelson this summer, but the former Millwall man’s demands appear to exceed the Town boss’ budget – and therefore a deal will not be agreed.

Wellens said: “Sid (Nelson) did really well at Tranmere, he’s moved out of our price range now.”

Town confirmed their sixth summer signing earlier today, with Rob Hunt joining on a two-year deal following the mutual termination of his contract at Oldham Athletic.
