IT WAS one in, one out for Chippenham Town on Friday as Luke Hopper joined the club after Nick McCootie departed.

Hopper arrives at Hardenhuish Park from Southern League side Salisbury, with his signing shortly following confirmation that fellow forward McCootie has left the club to join the Bluebirds’ National League South rivals Weston-super Mare.

Chippenham manager Mark Collier said: “Luke has been on our radar for a while now.

“He is a proven goalscorer and has been top scorer in his past three seasons, one at Gloucester City in the Conference North, and the last two seasons at Salisbury.

“His desire to join us was obvious following our conversations, his quality will certainly add to our forward options.

“Following discussions, Nick rejected his offer and has decided to move.

“He was a pleasure to work and have around the place. He was a very popular player in the dressing room and with the fans.

“I have wished him very well and thanked him for his time with us."
