CHIPPENHAM-BASED rider Amber Owen claimed victory at the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Parwood Equestrian Centre in Surrey on Saturday.
A total of 48 starters took on course designer Glen Mac Robert Smith’s 11-fence track but only half made it through to the final round.
Nine of those gained the all-important treble clear to secure their qualifying ticket into the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Final, which will be held during the British Showjumping National Championships in August.
On board Alison Davies’ Could Be Gold, Owen steered her charge around the track in 42.91 seconds, 0.08 seconds quicker than second-placed Charlotte Forman and Metro Cruise. Nicholas Edwards and Rubi Masquerade were third place.
Owen and seven-year-old Irish-bred mare Could Be Gold have been competing together for two years and will now move onto the British Showjumping National Championships at the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre in Warwickshire from August 6-11.
