SWINDON Town have shown interest in teenage defensive midfielder Matty Longstaff, according to reports.

Longstaff played in 20 Premier League 2 fixtures for Newcastle this season – and Town are reportedly in a race with fellow League Two club Bradford City to secure his services.

A younger brother of Sean Longstaff, the 19-year-old is understood to have attracted interest from a number of Football League clubs – with the Newcastle Chronicle reporting Bradford City lead negotiations for the time being.

The Chronicle’s article adds that Newcastle turned down loan offers from Bury and Falkirk in January.
