AFTER being knocked out of two cup competitions in recent weeks and losing the corresponding league fixture, Hilperton United finally got a victory over Heytesbury in the Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories-sponsored Trowbridge & District League Division One – doing do 6-2.

In a thoroughly entertaining game, Heytesbury went ahead after only six minutes with a goal from Liam Gibbens thanks to an assist from Craig Sheppard.

Heytesbury held the advantage until the 20th minute when Jake Samuel equalised with a well-placed shot before Luke Murden then put Hilperton ahead on 41 minutes.

Heytesbury pushed forward looking for an equaliser, and in a frantic two minutes before the break, hit the frame of the goal three times with two efforts from Sam Wright and one from Sheppard.

They were left to rue those missed chances as Hilperton scored their third goal four minutes after the restart via a Joey Cunningham header.

On 65 minutes, Chris Foley put Hilperton 4-1 ahead with a spectacular shot from 40 yards that flew into the top corner of the net.

In the 88th minute, Jake Samuel made sure that Hilperton would finish the season in third place when he scored his second and his team’s fifth.

However, the scoring was not over as Myles Woodward pulled one back for Heytesbury straight from the restart.

Hilperton still were not finished either as in the last minute, Murden headed in his second goal to wrap up Hilperton’s thrilling victory.

The only other game scheduled in the division was awarded to Three Daggers as opponents Melksham Town A could not raise a team.

Division Two

CHAMPIONS and A&B Cup winners Warminster United were awarded their scheduled match against Marshfield as they were unable to raise a team at the weekend.
