DAVID Howell made it four missed cuts in as many tournaments on the European Tour in 2019 after he headed home early from the Qatar Masters today.

Swindon golfer Howell posted a one-over second round of 73 at Doha Golf Club, dropping him down to one-over overall and a share of 88th place, two shots adrift of the cutline.

Fellow Wiltshire golfer Jordan Smith, from Derry Hill, is safely through to the weekend and is in a tie for 16th place at five-under after a four-under second round of 68.

South African duo Justin Harding and George Coetzee as well as Frenchman Mike Lorenzo-Vera lead the way on eight-under all after posting four-under second rounds.

Broome Manor man Howell made a positive start to his round with a birdie at the first, but bogeys at holes two, four and eight saw him reach the turn at two-over.

Howell started the back nine with a birdie and claimed another at the 16th to return to level par.

Needing a birdie at the last to make the cut, the 43-year-old instead recorded bogey to drop back to one-over overall and a second round of 73.
