WILTSHIRE racer Louis Harvey battled torrential rain, gale force winds and a grid of 24 drivers to come away with a clean sweep after winning all the Junior TKM heats and rounds one and two of the 2019 Rissington Kart Club Championships.

Timed qualifying opened proceedings for the weekend, which set the drivers up with their positions for the heats.

Malmesbury teenager Harvey drove hard but was clipped and turned around early on, although he recovered well to clock the second fastest lap of the session.

The two race heats started very similarly, with Harvey being on the outside for the first corner and had to slot into third place to begin his challenge.

By mid-race and with heat in his tyres, Harvey battled for the front. With clean, well-timed overtaking, he was into the lead which he held to the line and took the win each time.

All the points from the heats were added together, which resulted in Harvey starting from pole for the finals of rounds one and two of this year’s Rissington Championships.

Harvey got a clean start in the first final, but with the driving conditions deteriorating rapidly, drivers had to contend with poor visibility, winds and standing water on the track.

Over the course of the 12-lap race, Harvey edged away to cross the finish line 1.2 seconds clear of the field.

The second final was almost a repeat of the first thanks to another clean start and Harvey was able to take another win, this time finishing 1.5 seconds in front.
