DROPPED points for Kintbury Rangers at struggling Devizes Town Reserves allowed Wroughton to climb to the top of the Wiltshire League Premier Division table.

Wroughton’s 3-1 victory at Shrewton United saw them move level on points with Kintbury following their 2-2 draw, with the Weir Field side moving to the summit on goal difference.

Tyler Wilkinson headed Wroughton in front before Dominic Jackson missed the chance to level the scores for Shrewton from the penalty spot.

A second for Wilkinson and one for Reigan Cook pushed Wroughton further clear before Steven Holvey netted a consolation for the hosts.

Meanwhile at Devizes, the hosts took the lead through Declan Blandford, only for Kintbury to level matters via Shaun Thorp’s penalty.

Fabio Pinto then put Rangers in front before Blanford got his second of the game to earn Devizes a point.

Purton romped to a 7-2 success at Malmesbury Victoria Development, thanks to William Backhouses’ treble.

Further efforts for Purton came from George Drewitt, Andrew Bilko, Jack Duckers and an own goal, while Malmesbury replied through George Stone and Tom Wasilli.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development edged out visitors Ludgershall Sports 2-1.

Bailey Gallagher got the winner after Carl Shepherd’s opener for Bassett was cancelled out by Nathan Strong.

Adam Mitchell’s hat-trick fired Melksham Town Reserves to a 3-0 win at Marlborough Town, while Corsham Town Reserves and Trowbridge Town shared a 0-0 draw.

Pewsey Vale sit at the bottom of the table but do have a Knockout Cup semi-final to look forward to after beating Cricklade Town.

After a goalless 90 minutes, Pewsey’s Wesley Lima and Cricklade’s Elliott Corp traded goals before Vale prevailed 5-4 on penalties.

Meanwhile, Westbury United Reserves have withdrawn from the league with immediate effect, with the club also confirming they will not be seeking to enter a team next season.

Westbury’s record has expunged and the league table adjusted accordingly in due course.

A statement on Westbury’s club website read: “During the February meeting of the Westbury United FC committee held on Monday, February 27, two votes were held with regards to the reserve team.

“As the reserve team have not been meeting the original objective, it was decided that the team would be folded with immediate effect and therefore will not be completing our fixtures this season.

“Additionally, we will not be entering into the Wiltshire Senior League next season.

“We would like to thank Dave Jenkins and Andy Mullen for their hard work, along with Tom Robson and Chris Carr, who have been an integral part of that team in the recent past.

“We would like to thank the players for their efforts this season and wish them well in the future.

“And finally, we would like to thank the officers of the Wiltshire Senior League and the Wiltshire County FA for their support on this matter.”
