CLARRIE Dunbar took the plaudits in the derby clash against North Wilts in round four of the Mason Trophy – ladies O60 double rinks – last Friday.
Although the rinks were shared 1-1 as each club won their home leg, it was Clarrie who progressed to the next round as they ran out 35-31 victors overall.
It was sweet revenge for Dunbar as the last time the two clubs met in the Mason Trophy in the 2015/16 season, North Wilts thrashed them 57-18.
Clarrie led across the board throughout in this latest contest.
They made a fine start and were 13-6 up after five ends and moved further ahead 27-10 after 10. North Wilts cut the deficit to 32-26 at 15 ends, but Clarrie held on to win 35-31 at 18 ends.
At Standerwick, the Dunbar rink of Jeanette Wheeler (skip) Ruth Jupp, Pam Trippitt and Sue Bird won 24-16 against Sue Cooke’s foursome, which included Margaret Cooke, Bev Lilley and Jean Collier.
In Chippenham, the North Wilts home foursome of Ann Roberts-Phare, Irene Button, Jayne Taylor and Alex Jacobs had to come from behind to claim a 15-11 victory over Maggie Morgan, Marjorie Gatfield, Jo Dunford and Teresa King (skip).
In the fifth round on March 1, Clarrie will play Buckinghamshire side Handy Cross IBC (High Wycombe).
