SWINDON Town made three new additions to their squad on a busy deadline day at the end of the January transfer window.

Town signed midfielder Cameron McGilp for an undisclosed fee from Championship side Birmingham City, while Kyle Bennett and Theo Robinson also arrived at the Energy Check County Ground on loan until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, young striker Sol Pryce will spend the remainder of the campaign away from SN1 after joining National League South side Dulwich Hamlet on loan.

In total, the deadline day arrivals make it nine new signings made by Town boss Richie Wellens in January.

The most notable of yesterday’s deals was the signing of Scottish-born Australian midfielder McGilp, who joins the club for an undisclosed fee from St Andrews on a two-and a-half-year contract, with the move subject to EFL and FA approval.

The 20-year-old, who can also play in the heart of defence, spent much of his youth career with Melbourne Victory and signed a professional contract with the Australian side back in 2017.

After moving back to Britain, Birmingham offered the youngster a short-term professional contract and he featured regularly for the Blues’ U23s side, appearing 17 times and scoring three goals.

Upon joining Town, McGilp told the club’s official website: “When Swindon came in, they’re a big club, so I didn’t have any hesitation to come down.

“Massimo Luongo was here a couple of years ago, so I knew a bit about the club just from following him from back in Australia.

“My dad and mum are from Reading, so know about the club and said it was a good place to be. I’ve been really impressed with the stadium and the facilities.”

Meanwhile, Bennett has joined on loan from League One side Bristol Rovers until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has made 26 competitive appearances for Rovers this season following his departure from Portsmouth in February last year.

Striker Robinson heads to Town from another League One side, Southend United.

The 30-year-old has made 31 appearances for the Roots Hall outfit this season, scoring four goals.

Teenage Town striker Pryce will complete the season away from the club at Dulwich in order to gain vital experience.

Pryce, who turned 19 on Wednesday, has played four times for Swindon this season, scoring twice on his first league appearance against Stevenage back in November.

The striker, who is from Chippenham, became the 1,000th professional player to pull on a Town shirt in the league when he started against Stevenage.
