SWINDON Town are set to sign teenage defender Taylor Curran from Southend United.

The 18-year-old, who spent time on loan at National League club Braintree Town earlier this season, is understood to be Richie Wellens’ latest target - according to The Sun.

We understand Curran is set to sign for the club in the coming days before this weekend's home tie against Crawley.

Curran is most familiar to playing at centre half, and could be the back-up option that Wellens was hinting at bringing in following Saturday’s 2-1 win at Tranmere.

The Town boss confirmed that he wants to add familiarity to the Town squad, and is wary that Luke Woolfenden could be recalled by parent club Ipswich at any moment.

More as we get it.
