RICHIE Wellens hopes to keep hold of all four of Swindon Town’s loan signings until the end of the season, though is yet to make dialogue with parent clubs regarding any permanent deals.

Elijah Adebayo, Steven Alzate and Luke Woolfenden all signed loan deals that will last until the end of the current season, though all three players will be subject to a review period in January with their respective parent clubs.

Sid Nelson’s loan deal meanwhile ends in January, however Wellens is keen to secure the services of Town’s resolute centre half until the end of the season.

He said: “We’ve been in dialogue with all of the parent clubs for our loan players – we would like to keep them all.

“We haven’t discussed with Millwall if they would like to let go of Sid (Nelson) on a permanent basis. We want to make sure we get to January and keep him.

“I prefer a permanent player, one because his bond with the club is greater.

“That option frees up the chance for another loan signing too. We’ve got three centre backs on a loan, ideally I’d like to use my loan allocation on strikers.”

Goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux is also a hot transfer topic at the Energy Check County Ground at the moment with the 25-year-old’s contract due to run out at the end of the current season.

Failing to agree a fresh contract in January could see Town have no choice but to let Vigouroux depart on a free transfer in the summer.

Therefore, Wellens is keen to tie the Chile international down on a fresh deal, insisting his coaching staff can help make him into good goalkeeper.

“Lawrence (Vigouroux) knows what I think of him, he’s got huge potential,” said Wellens.

“He’s got all the attributes as modern goalkeepers go to keep developing, and we’d like him to sign a new contract.

“If a new contract isn’t signed, then we have to try and protect our asset – because he’s a goalkeeper that can play at a very high level.

“I’d like him to sign a new deal, because then I don’t have to go out and look elsewhere.

“But I’m understanding, from the club’s point of view, that we have to protect our asset.

“My thinking at the moment is to keep him – he’s very young and we feel we can turn him into a good goalkeeper.

“Steve Mildenhall works him every day, and we’re lucky because we’ve got two good goalkeepers.”
