Lawrence Vigouroux – 5.5
Was unfortunate not to save Thomas’ penalty but gifted Grimsby’s main danger a second when palming the ball into his path. Strong headwind didn’t help.
Kyle Knoyle – 7
A mature performance from an improving player. Was again encouraged to push forward and it benefitted Town on the right wing.
Michael Doughty – 6.5
Wasn’t short of chances. Created space for himself and his teammates in the midfield. Only a lack of end product denies a more solid rating.
Sid Nelson – 6
Unfortunate call against him when Grimsby were awarded a penalty mid-way through the first half. Couple of holes in midfield at times, must take part of the blame.
James Dunne – 6.5
Has turned himself into one of Swindon’s fearless midfield units in recent games. No major errors, similarly, nothing too spectacular. Gave 100 per cent though.
Ellis Iandolo – 6
Quiet game – punted the ball forwards when needed. But the right side of midfield for the hosts was an area they exploited well.
Elijah Adebayo – 5
Snatched at chances and should’ve scored. Won’t be presented with two better chances than the ones he missed in the second half – from six yards and a one-on-one.
Kaiyne Woolery – 6
Used his pace to his advantage but was often charged down by the last man. Frustrating day, could’ve had a goal on another day.
Scott Twine – 6
Made way for Kyle Knoyle on a number of occasions. Not much of an attacking threat, though kept the ball down when in possession well.
Matt Taylor – 7.5
Trademark free-kick to bring Town back into the game after conceding. Wasn’t afraid to try his luck from range, a display that gave fans memories of last season.
Luke Woolfenden – 7
Excellent commitment in the first half to deny Grimsby on a couple of occasions. Put his body on the line – becoming more of a regular face in the first team.
Subs:
Steven Alzate – 6.5
Made a few promising runs, but no end product.
Jermaine McGlashan – 6
Slipped up – literally – when entering the game. Nothing much to rant about.
Sol Pryce – 6
Came on as Wellens’ last roll of the dice to find an equaliser.
