CHIPPENHAM’S Kent Kauppinen claimed a superb victory in his latest MMA contest – stunning home favourite Alessio Sakara in Italy on Saturday night.
The contest was Kauppinen’s most high-profile so far and saw him headline American promotion Bellator’s latest show against former UFC fighter Sakara, with the event broadcast on UK TV on Five Spike.
Although a big underdog for the light-heavyweight contest, Kauppinen upset the odds with a sensational performance at the RDS Stadium in Genoa.
The 26-year-old caught his opponent with a powerdul punch to claim a knockout victory just one minute and 10 seconds into the first round.
The victory marks a return to winning form for Kauppinen after defeats in his two previous bouts in 2018 and pushes his record to 11 wins and four defeats.
