CALNE Town rescued a late point after having to settle for a 1-1 draw away at Toolstation League First Division side Bristol Telephones at the weekend.

The Lilywhites trailed heading into the latter stages in Bristol but Matt Hudson rescued a point for the visitors late on.

Elsewhere, Corsham Town made it three league wins in a row with a 3-2 victory at home to Bishop Sutton.

Devizes Town were beaten 2-1 at home by Ashton & Blackwell United, Jack Hopper getting the hosts' goal.

Chippenham Park were without a game at the weekend but returned to action on Tuesday when they went down 3-2 at home to Cheddar.

Alfie Presley and Rhys Tamlash got the hosts’ goals.

Warminster Town claimed a 3-1 win away to Sherborne Town and boss Andy Crabtree said it was “nice to get back on track” after ha run of four straight defeats.

Charlie Walton’s opener was cancelled out by a Daniel Newens goal for the home side, however, a Jake Wright brace in the second period sealed the win and put an end to Warminster’s losing run.

Crabtree felt his side more than deserved the victory and, if not for some lacklustre finishing, could have won by an even more emphatic scoreline.

“It was nice to get back on the right track. We have got ourselves into a bit of an awkward situation recently and we have been working hard to try to put that right," said Crabtree.

“It was good to push in the right direction again on Saturday.

“We have just been making too many defensive errors – if you do that, you are not going to get results.

“We were worthy winners at the weekend and we played some good stuff – we could actually have won even more comfortably as we missed a couple of decent chances."

Warminster are one of only three sides in the division without a draw so far this season and Crabtree said his team’s inability to hold on for a point in tough situations could end up costing his young players come May.

“We seem to either win or lose, we haven’t had enough draws," said Crabtree.

“There are definitely games we have lost this season that we should have got a point out of – that can make a big difference come the end of the season.

“We need to dig in a little bit more and grind out a few draws.

“We’re a young squad – I think the average age is about 22 – and the players are still developing, so it’s important that they do learn from the games they play and improve.

“We’ve got a good group and a lot of them have got bright futures."
