TRIATHLETE Diane Hier bagged a bronze medal on Saturday at the ETU Middle Distance Triathlon Championships.
Despite poor weather – which resulted in a reduced cycling distance – Hier battled through the elements to finish on the rostrum.
Saturday’s race started with a sea swim around Island de las Ratas before competitors headed back to their starting point for their first transition.
Due to the event’s delayed start, a concern about the lack of daylight hours prompted the cycling leg to be shortened before a half marathon around the picturesque settings of Ibiza concluded the event.
A delighted Hier said: “It’s a privilege to have qualified and race in The GB Age Group Team, but to win a medal is beyond my expectations.
“Huge thanks to my coach Paul Ryman and to all my friends and family for the endless support that they willingly give.”
