FRESHFORD United overcame Warminster Town Reserves 7-4 in Division One of the Trowbridge & District League at the weekend.

Alfie Little and Dave Percival led the scoring for Freshford with a brace each, while Edward Katumba, Nick Ross and Dean Ranger were also on target. Nicholas Taylor got two of Warminster’s goals, with Sam McEntee and Max Pollock also finding the back of the net.

Having conceded seven goals the previous Saturday, Melksham Town A hit back by scoring 10 without reply against bottom-of-the-table Trowbridge Town A.

The performance of the day was from substitute Cameron Thomas, who came off the bench to score four, eclipsing the hat-trick scored by Paul Gittens. Antony Lamb, Kieron Pearce and Gage Jones completed the rout for Melksham.

DIVISION TWO

WESTBURY United Development took all three points from their home game with Calne Town Reserves in a 4-1 success.

Adam Kenich, George Pawling, Harrison Trevor and Joe Whiteman were on target for the winners as Declan McStravick replied.

Bath side Aces claimed a 2-1 win on their trip to Zeals.

Vijay Manro and Phillip Powell were the Aces’ marksmen, with Aaron Carter on target for the home side.

WILTSHIRE JUNIOR CUP

SIX Trowbridge sides progressed to the second round of the Wiltshire Junior Cup at the weekend.

There were two all-TDFL ties, with the first seeing Holt dispose of home side Greyhound 6-2.

Otis Young scored a brace, while Mark Maguire, Finn Young, Ryan Underwood and own goal saw Holt through to the next round.

In the other, Three Daggers scored four without reply to beat Calne Eagles as Reuben Spong got two alongside a single from Joe Moloney and an own goal.

Heytesbury edged out Swindon League side Ruby Removals 4-2 thanks to a Brendan Hind hat-trick and Craig Sheppard’s strike.

Another Swindon side, Bakers Arms, came unstuck at Semington Magpies as Kelvin Lockwood, Sam Malone and Richy Allum fired the home side to a 3-1 win.

Result of the day went to Seend-based Spencers as they beat Swindon’s Spectrum 5-3.

Harry Waylen led the way with a hat-trick and was joined by Owen Gardner and Kyle Palmer on the scoresheet.

Hilperton United hosted another Swindon side, Blunsdon, but it was the visitors who progressed 5-4.

Finally, a single strike by Warminster United saw them defeat Redlynch & Woodfalls 1-0.
